What makes our watches tick?

What makes our watches tick?

It started with a dream.
What do you tend to look for in a timepiece? Is it the movement within? The dial design perhaps? Or are you most drawn to the casing?

At Creux Automatiq, we have always set out to consistently deliver excellent quality; every element of our process from the initial design to the finished product is like a building block towards perfection.

Want to know how we achieve that?

The Heart..

At the heart of all Creux Automatiq timepieces is a Swiss made, self-winding mechanical movement. The image below showcases the case-back of the Ghost Gen II CA04. The rear-window exposes the robust S24-SK8 movement produced specifically for CA by SwissTech. Its specifications include a skeletonised three-hand-date-system with 33 jewels that operates at a frequency of 28,800vph and boasts 36 hours of power reserve. CA movements are always beautifully decorated – the gears and mechanics have been tastefully exposed through a skeletal frame, all finished with a combination of black, gold & gunmetal PVD, and brushed & polished surfaces.

The Face..

Unique dial design is something that helps Creux Automatiq stand out from the crowd. Whether it be the colour combinations, detail & skeletonised dial of the Ghost, or the trapezoid & curved rhombus pattern of the Diamondback, you’d be hard pressed to find the same with another brand. The highest quality luminant ‘Super-LumiNova’ is applied to the components to enable vibrant nighttime and deep ocean visibility. The sapphire crystal lenses are double AR (anti-reflective) coated to significantly reduce any glare and provide the utmost transparency.

The Body..

The Ghost case shape (which is now the signature for the Creux Automatiq brand) was first shaped and cast out of solid sterling silver at the home workshop of CA founder Dane Rumble in 2009 (you can find more about CA’s history here). This housing was used as a base guide to source the right movement and component manufacturers, and to this day remains true to its original design. It is beautifully balanced – it’s design has both originality, and draws inspiration from the classic sports timepieces that have stood the test of time.

No corners are cut in the manufacturing process, the stainless steel casings come from milled 316L steel blocks that are precision cut and then polished by hand. For example, the Diamondback CA08 features a stunning combination of high polished and matte brushed surfaces, creating a dynamic finish. The case is completed with an anti-scratch 0.3 micron PVD clear coating – the thickest PVD available.

Resistance.

All Creux Automatiq timepieces feature a screw down crown and water sealing gasket system, attributing to their water resistance which ranges from 5 ATM (50m) with the Diamondback to 10 ATM (100m) with the Ghost models. They are robustly built to handle the elements, a testament to the brand’s ethos of adventure.
Each of these elements have been forged together by our master designers and watchmakers to ensure that you always get the timepiece that you deserve.
